1. Introduction

Me.Mentor is operated by MeMentor, Inc., a Public Benefit Corporation organized under the laws of the State of Delaware (“Me.Mentor,” “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Our principal website is located at https://mementor.org (the “Website”).

Me.Mentor provides a configurable virtual mentorship platform (“Platform”) that enables high schools, colleges, universities, and other educational institutions (“Institutional Partners” or “Schools”) to design, operate, and manage their own mentorship programs. Me.Mentor does not operate mentorship programs directly.

This Privacy Policy explains how Me.Mentor collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information in connection with the Website and the Platform. It also describes your rights with respect to that information.

By accessing or using the Website or Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with its terms, please do not access or use the Website or Platform.

2. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • Visitors to https://mementor.org and any associated Me.Mentor web pages
  • Institutional Partners and their authorized administrators and staff
  • Mentors and student mentees who access a School’s Me.Mentor-powered portal

This Policy does not govern personal information that Schools independently collect, store, or manage outside of the Me.Mentor Platform. Schools are responsible for their own data practices and should maintain their own privacy policies as applicable.

3. The School-Partner Model and Allocation of Data Responsibility

Me.Mentor provides technology infrastructure. Schools design and operate their own mentorship programs within that infrastructure.

In this relationship:

  • Schools function as the primary data stewards for their participants. Schools determine who may access their portal, what information is collected during onboarding, and how the program is operated.
  • Me.Mentor functions as a service provider to Schools, accessing and processing participant data only as necessary to provide, maintain, and improve the Platform.
  • Schools are solely responsible for obtaining any required consents, providing required notices to participants and families, and complying with applicable laws governing their programs.

Where a written agreement exists between Me.Mentor and a School, the terms of that agreement govern data handling obligations specific to that relationship.

4. Information We Collect

4.1 Website Visitors

When you visit https://mementor.org, we may automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type and version, pages visited, time and date of your visit, and referring URLs. This information is collected through cookies, server logs, and analytics tools and is used to maintain and improve the Website.

If you submit an inquiry through a contact form on the Website, we collect the information you provide, which may include your name, email address, institution name, and the content of your message.

4.2 Platform Users — Mentors

Mentors who create profiles on a School’s Me.Mentor portal may provide information such as their name, email address, professional background, areas of expertise, and other profile details they choose to include. This information is provided voluntarily and is visible to students and administrators within that School’s portal.

4.3 Platform Users — Student Mentees

Student accounts are created through a School-administered process. The information Me.Mentor collects in connection with student account creation is limited to: first name, last name, student ID number, email address, and a desired username and password. All student account registrations are reviewed and approved by a School administrator before the student is granted access to the portal.

Me.Mentor does not collect sensitive personal information about students beyond what is necessary for account creation and Platform functionality.

4.4 Platform Users — School Administrators and Staff

School administrators and staff who access the Platform may provide their name, institutional email address, and role. We also collect login activity and usage data associated with administrative accounts.

4.5 Session and Usage Data

The Platform may collect metadata related to mentorship sessions, including scheduling information, session timestamps, and participation records. Where a School has enabled optional AI-generated transcription (described in Section 8), additional session data may be processed in connection with that feature.

4.6 Communications

If you contact Me.Mentor directly by email or through the Website, we retain the content of that communication and your contact information in order to respond and maintain records.

5. How We Use Information

Me.Mentor uses the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Website and Platform
  • Create and manage user accounts
  • Facilitate mentorship program functionality, including scheduling and session management
  • Respond to inquiries and provide customer support
  • Monitor Platform security and investigate reported concerns
  • Improve Platform features and user experience
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations
  • Enforce our Terms of Use and other agreements

We do not sell personal information. We do not use student data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to providing the Platform.

6. FERPA and Student Educational Records

Where applicable, Me.Mentor acknowledges its obligations under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). In such cases, Me.Mentor acts as a “School Official” with a legitimate educational interest in accessing student data solely for the purpose of providing the Platform.

Me.Mentor:

  • Accesses student data only to the extent necessary to operate and support the Platform
  • Does not disclose student educational records to third parties except as permitted by FERPA and the applicable School agreement
  • Does not sell student data under any circumstances
  • Supports Schools in meeting their FERPA obligations through appropriate contractual commitments

Specific FERPA obligations applicable to a given School relationship may be further defined in the relevant institutional agreement.

7. Minors and Children’s Privacy

The Platform’s minimum age requirement is 13 years old. Me.Mentor does not knowingly collect personal information from any person under the age of 13. If we become aware that a user under 13 has accessed the Platform, we will take prompt steps to remove that account and any associated data.

For students between the ages of 13 and 17, Me.Mentor relies on the applicable School to ensure that required parental or guardian consents are obtained prior to student participation. Me.Mentor does not directly collect, manage, or store parental consent documentation unless expressly agreed to in writing with a School.

Schools serving minor students are solely responsible for implementing appropriate safeguards, conducting required disclosures to families, and complying with applicable child protection and education laws in their jurisdiction.

8. AI-Generated Session Transcription

Schools may optionally enable AI-generated transcription for mentorship sessions conducted through the Platform. This feature is powered by Zoom, a third-party service provider. When this feature is enabled, session audio and video may be processed by Zoom in accordance with Zoom’s applicable terms and privacy policy, available at https://zoom.us/privacy.

Key points regarding this feature:

  • Transcription is an optional feature that each School elects to enable or disable
  • Schools are responsible for notifying participants when transcription is active
  • Transcripts are intended to support record keeping, program monitoring, and institutional oversight
  • Me.Mentor does not use session transcripts for advertising or any purpose unrelated to Platform functionality

Schools that enable this feature are responsible for ensuring their use of transcription complies with applicable law, including any state or local laws governing the recording of communications.

9. Cookies and Analytics

10. Third-Party Services and Integrations

The Platform and Website may integrate or interact with third-party services, including but not limited to:

  • Zoom (video conferencing and optional AI transcription; see Section 8)
  • Bluehost (website and Platform hosting infrastructure)
  • Third-party payment processors (for institutional licensing fees; see Section 11)

Each third-party service operates under its own terms of service and privacy policy. Me.Mentor is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party providers. We encourage users to review the privacy policies of any third-party services they interact with.

The Website may include embedded content from other websites (such as videos or articles). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the originating website directly, and those websites may collect data about you or use cookies independently.

11. Payment Processing

Institutional licensing fees may be paid through a third-party payment processor or via ACH direct bank transfer. Me.Mentor does not collect, store, or process credit card numbers or sensitive financial account information directly. All payment transactions are handled by the applicable third-party processor, whose privacy policy and security practices govern that data. The identity of our payment processor(s) will be disclosed at the time of any transaction.

12. How We Share Information

Me.Mentor does not sell personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • With Schools: Participant data is accessible to the relevant School’s authorized administrators as part of Platform functionality.
  • With service providers: We share information with vendors and service providers (such as those described in Section 10) who assist us in operating the Website and Platform, subject to appropriate data protection commitments.
  • For legal compliance: We may disclose information where required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • To protect safety and rights: We may disclose information where we believe it is necessary to protect the safety of any person, prevent fraud or abuse, or enforce our Terms of Use.

In a business transition: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice of any such change and any material modification to how your data is handled.

13. Data Retention

Me.Mentor retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide the Platform and fulfill our contractual obligations to Schools
  • Comply with applicable federal and state law, including FERPA where applicable
  • Maintain Platform security and integrity
  • Resolve disputes and enforce agreements

Website visitor data collected through analytics is retained in accordance with Google Analytics’ standard retention settings. Contact form submissions are retained for a reasonable period to support follow-up and recordkeeping.

Upon termination of a School’s agreement, Me.Mentor handles participant data in accordance with the applicable institutional agreement and governing law. Schools may request data deletion or export subject to applicable legal limitations.

14. Data Security

Me.Mentor takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. The Platform is password-protected and accessible only to users approved by their respective School. Our hosting infrastructure is maintained by Bluehost and includes industry-standard security protections.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights or interests, we will notify affected parties as required by applicable law.

15. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

To the extent that Me.Mentor’s activities are subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the following rights with respect to their personal information:

  • Right to Know: The right to request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, as well as how it is used and shared.
  • Right to Delete: The right to request deletion of personal information we hold about you, subject to certain legal exceptions.
  • Right to Correct: The right to request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing: Me.Mentor does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: You will not be discriminated against for exercising your California privacy rights.

To submit a California privacy rights request, please contact us at the address listed in Section 17. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

Note: Student data subject to FERPA is generally exempt from CCPA. FERPA governs our handling of student educational records.

16. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your relationship with Me.Mentor and applicable law, you may have certain rights with respect to your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of data we hold about you.

Platform users (mentors, students, administrators) should direct data access or deletion requests to their School’s program administrator, as Schools control participant data within their portals.

Website visitors who have submitted contact forms or left comments may request access to or deletion of that information by contacting us directly.
